Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions / Recruitment
In our laboratory, each member has their own research theme and tackles it using a variety of approaches.
Our graduate students come from diverse academic backgrounds, including medicine, engineering, education, science, agriculture, health sciences, humanities, liberal arts, and physical education.
We welcome individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in sports and health science, including those actively engaged in sports through university clubs or teams. Prospective students—both from Tohoku University and other institutions in Japan and abroad—are encouraged to contact us.
Our members include not only students but also working professionals such as teachers, physical therapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, public health nurses, trainers, and industry researchers. We also host international students from countries including China, Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and Nigeria. We are a highly diverse group, and by leveraging each member’s strengths, we work collaboratively to address real-world challenges related to health and human performance.
We are actively engaged in international collaborative research, and our work has been published in leading journals, including Science and the Nature sister journals. Those who aspire to work globally or are considering studying abroad are especially encouraged to join us.
Graduate students may enroll through either the Graduate School of Medicine (Exercise Science) or the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering (Sports and Health Science). Regardless of affiliation, research activities take place at the Seiryo Campus (School of Medicine Building No. 4, 3rd floor).
Whether or not you have a strong background in sports, if you are interested in the science of sports and health, we warmly invite you to join us. If you are considering applying to our graduate program, we would be happy to speak with you.
We look forward to hearing from you.
